Teacher, scholar and writer. He was born in Constantinople around 1180, studied there and died in Nicaea in c. 1235. The school he founded in Nicaea was a hotbed for dignitaries selected from the Emperor to staff the machinery of government. One of his most prominent students was George Akropolites. |
